About MESME

Mathematics Education for Social Mobility Excellence (MESME) is a pioneering education charity with a bold vision: transforming England into a more socially mobile and productive nation. Our mission is to address a stark reality—half of the disadvantaged children who excel in mathematics at eleven lose this proficiency by age sixteen, representing an immense loss of potential for both individuals and society.

MESME is dedicated to reversing this trend by identifying and nurturing mathematical talent, particularly among those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our approach involves empowering these young minds through in-school programs while combating societal perceptions hindering their math engagement.

Join Our Mission

We seek an exceptional Programme Officer driven by a passion for supporting youth development. As part of our Online Maths Circles team, collaborating with our Programme Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless delivery and continuous enhancement of our Online Maths Circles program.

Responsibilities

Relationship Management:

  • Orchestrating logistics and maintaining communication with parents and students to elevate their experience within the program.
  • Curating extracurricular events to enrich students' involvement and learning.
  • Coordinating with mentors for the smooth facilitation of Maths Circles sessions and payments.
  • Cultivating and sustaining relationships with teachers and school personnel engaged in the Online Maths Circles.

Project Management:

  • Streamlining student schedules and refining procedural designs in tandem with the team.
  • Spearheading communication plans for schools, teachers, parents, and students, including nominations, student reports, and newsletters.
  • Overseeing the intake process for new year 7/8 students and collaborating on refining recruitment cycles.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Analyzing feedback from students, parents, and teachers, promptly addressing arising issues.
  • Maintaining comprehensive data records on our CRM system.
  • Contributing to internal and external reporting processes while supporting overall Maths Circles delivery and expansion efforts.

Qualifications and Skills

You should apply if you possess:

  • Superb organizational and time management skills, adept at managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • A genuine commitment to social mobility and creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
  • Initiative-driven, capable of independent and imaginative work within defined parameters.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Proficiency with CRM systems.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis.
  • A STEM degree or equivalent level 6 qualification.

You must have:

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Dedication to equal opportunity, safeguarding, and welfare of students.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS checks and engage in in-person and online skill and knowledge development training.

Perks and Inclusivity

  • Flexible work policy with limited office presence required.
  • Generous annual leave and employer pension contribution.
  • Additional work-from-home allowance for equipment procurement.

Equal Opportunities

We value diversity and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Meeting every criterion is unnecessary; our priority is finding the right fit for the role. We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented backgrounds in mathematics.

MESME is committed to equality and does not discriminate based on any characteristic protected by the Equality Act 2010.
